Creating some form of personal workout plan is a terrific way to get started losing weight. But you probably haven’t worked out for some time, so you don’t know where to begin. It may even seem to be a little scary, commitment wise. Fortunately, it’s not that confusing or tough to do – just begin walking. You must make walking a huge component of your workout plan.

You’ll be surprised how simple it is to squeeze walking into your workout program. If you have a pet dog then take your pet for a walk around the block for no less than ten minutes. After 7 days, you’ll have walked at least seventy minutes more than if you hadn’t done it at all. If you walk your dog twice per day then that number doubles. If you don’t live too far away from your office walk there, or at least a portion of the way. You can try this no matter the distance of your home from work. Of course, you’ll need to walk back at the end of your work day, too, so that doubles the time you work out – which is great! But then, if you use public transport to go to work, just use a bus stop farther away than the one you normally use. You’ll see it really is no big deal to add more walking to your daily workout plan.

If you are striving to be healthier overall, you can’t lose by walking. The reason is that walking is one of the most efficacious aerobic exercises. This means it’s not just great for your heart, but you’ll get rid of extra pounds also. You can go at a fairly slow pace if necessary, so don’t be worried that you’re going to hurt your muscles or joints as you might if you went for a run. I have a brother who’s one of those people who eats a ton of junk and fast food but never puts on weight. How does he do it? He says he’s never actually thought about it, but maybe it’s because he walks quite a bit daily. When he mentioned that, everything all of a sudden became clear. Since, for most of us, nothing is simpler than walking, we don’t have a good excuse not to.

You’ll have a better likelihood of sticking with your walking regimen if you just make it part of your day-to-day routine. Then, with a proper, nutritious diet, you’ll also begin losing weight as if by magic. You won’t have to worried about motivation, as walking is not all that vigorous, and you’ll be encouraged at how much better you feel. Before you know it, you’ll be looking forward to your frequent walks and planning on going on walks even more.
